Church Sanctuary
Sitting atop a four-acre terraced hillside, St. Patrick's Episcopal Church and
Day School looks out over the central part of the Conejo Valley. The Church was
originally built to resemble a Maltese cross, but the arm of the cross that
housed the parish hall was destroyed by fire in 1995. The worship space
occupies two arms of the cross, and has a seating capacity of 225. The third
arm contains the sacristy, vesting room and two rooms currently used for pre-schoolers on Sunday mornings.
We have also been blessed with six large stained glass
windows depicting a great cloud of witnesses and saints who have gone
before us.
Labrynth: Bringing an ancient tradition to St. Patrick's
Walking the labyrinth path as a tool for contemplative prayer is a Christian
tradition which stems from medieval times. Labyrinths can be found in the great
cathedrals of Europe, as well as in churches, schools and hospitals around the
U.S. They are a spiritual maze giving all a chance to walk and pray as one
journeys to spiritual centeredness and then back into the world.
We are bringing a labyrinth to St. Patrick's when we install new paving between
the church and the new Canterbury Hall. The labyrinth will be a beautiful
addition, a knot tying the church to Canterbury Hall, and a fine spiritual
resource for the church, the school and the community.
Support is welcome for this project. Memorial, honorary and celebration
dedications are available, or just give to the glory of God and for your own
spiritual growth. To contribute or for more information, please contact the
church office at 805-495-6441.
Parish Hall
The new Parish Hall is a 6,000 square-foot building with an assembly hall that
can accommodate 200 for a sit-down dinner; a kitchen, church library,
conference room/staff lounge, and administrative offices.
Church Library
The purpose of St. Patrick's Church Library is to offer parishioners a source of
reading and viewing materials with the assurance that its contents are
consistent with teachings of the Episcopal Church. We do not try to compete
with the public library, but offer both fiction and non fiction books, tapes
and CDs that are spiritually nourishing.
At present we have approximately 1800 books and 500 A/V tapes, with active
parish participation averaging 20 to 40 books and tapes checked out at any
given time.
Day School
The Day School occupies 2 buildings: England Hall with 4 classrooms, a computer
laboratory, and an art and sciences room; and Canterbury Hall with 9 classrooms and school
administrative office.
Use of Facilities
St. Patrick's is available for weddings and funerals, and for general
community use. There is a fee involved to help cover the costs of
utilities and clean-up. Contact the church
office with any questions regarding the use of the facilities. |
